Armand J. Bill Primeaux

Armand Joseph Primeaux, 85, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully in a local hospital on April 20, 2012, after contending with a lengthy illness.

"Bill" or "paw-paw" was born on October 26, 1926, in Holmwood and was raised in Bell City. He lived in Lake Charles the majority of his life. He graduated from Bell City High School in 1944. He was the organizer for the Bell City Old Timers Association. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1944 1946. Throughout his life, Bill worked in a variety of businesses, including Jennings Production Credit Association, Chesson Oil, and retired from Pumpelly Oil. Bill was co-owner and operator of the Ranch Truck Stop for almost 20 years.

He took great pride in his family as he and his wife, Jean, raised 5 children. However, he considered "family" anyone who joined a gathering of his family. His passion was being on the water. Of the many gifts he gave his family, the one Bill cherished most was a place on River Road to be enjoyed by all his family. He seemed to experience no greater joy than being witness to the success of his children, his grand-children, and his great-grand-children. Bill will be remembered as a Christian man of his Catholic faith. He was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Margaret Catholic Church for over 50 years. He was lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an ardent supporter for Catholic education and he volunteered at St. Margaret, Landry Memorial, St. Charles Academy and St. Louis Catholic High School, which all of his children attended.

He leaves to cherish his memory, Armand J. Primeaux, Jr. and wife Nancy of Clinton, IL, Arthur Webster Primeaux, M.D. and wife Gayla of Lake Charles, Russel Oliver Primeaux and wife Valerie of Baton Rouge, and Christopher James Primeaux and wife Mia of Lake Charles; 19 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one sister, Olive Broussard, of Holmwood and brother-in-law Kenneth Joseph Istre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Amanda Primeaux, his daughter, Rebecca Jean Istre, and his wife Velma Jean Primeaux.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Monday April 23, 2012 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Reverend Bill Miller and Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a memorial service including rosary recited by Mrs. Esther Harrington at 6:30 PM.
