Arnold "Blue" Gaspard, 75, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 5:30 AM on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at a local hospital. Mr. Gaspard was born October 22, 1938 in Lake Charles, LA where he was a lifelong resident. He served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He worked as a bricklayer for almost twenty years and worked at Olin / Lyondell for twenty-six years, where he was an Insulator, retiring in 2003. Mr. Gaspard was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Antique Automobile Association of Lake Charles. He loved raising animals, especially horses. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, RV'ing, and dancing. His true passion in life was for his family, especially his two sons. Mr. Gaspard never met a stranger and will be missed by many. Mr. Gaspard is survived by his sons, David Ray Gaspard and wife Tonja and Andrew Arnold Gaspard and wife Rachel, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Ethel Derouen and husband Ray of Lake Charles and Gwen Hebert of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Gaspard and Haley and Keegan; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Liam Gaspard; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cecile Doucet Gaspard; sister, Sybil LeBleu; and brother, Frannie Gaspard. His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the funeral home from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
