Arnold Caleb Jones, 86, of Sweetlake, LA went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, March 17, 2014 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7. Arnold was born on February 17, 1928 in Grand Chenier, LA to Jennings and Lola Jones. Arnold was deeply loved by his friends and family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener. He served on the Cameron Parish School Board from 1975 through 1990 and as a Board President from 1987 to 1990. In 1968, he was appointed by Governor John McKeithen to the East Cameron Port Commission. He served in this capacity for over 40 years and was a retired field foreman and plant manager for Amoco Production Company. He attended McNeese Junior College and Louisiana State University and was a member of Sweetlake and Grand Chenier Methodist Churches. He is survived by one sister, Betty Hackett, and one brother, Jerry G. Jones; as well as six children: Judith and husband Arthur Halbrook; Suetta and husband Robert Burney; Arnold and wife Nina; Betty and husband Gordie Hicks; Eugene and wife Cindy; and Lola and husband Scott Quinn. He also had eight grandchildren: Jodie Burney Carter, Miranda Hicks Mallett, Byron and Jonathan Quinn, Alex and Adam Jones, Patrick Jones, and Caleb Hicks, Kelli Styron, Chelsi Styron, and Shelly Richard. In addition to his grandchildren, he had three great-grandchildren: Ella Quinn, Cecilia Mallett, and Adlie Richard. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Ramona Jones, parents Jennings and Lola Jones, and two brothers, Lynn R. Jones and Jennings B. Jones. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2014 with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume Thursday morning at 8:00 AM until time of service at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at McCall Cemetery in Grand Chenier, LA. Reverend James B. Moore will officiate services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sweetlake Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
