Audry Hackett, 90, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 in her residence.
Audrey was born on December 16, 1925 in Johnson Bayou, LA to Fred and Eunice Griffith. She was a graduate from Creole High School where she was a Valedictorian in her class. Audry also attended Vincent Business College in Lake Charles, LA with straight A’s. She was the owner of Audry Hackett’s Secretarial Service. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and dancing. Audry worked for City Service Refineries Engineering Department and retired after 31 years of service. During her tenure as Executive Secretary she had seen two Vice Presidents and One President of CITGO come up through the ranks. She lived a very colorful life; she lived by three simple sayings: live simply, speak kindly, and love fully.
She is survived by one loving son, John R Gammage, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA; three grandchildren, Jennifer Schaefer and husband Gus, Jessica L. Polanco, and John D. Gammage; and three great grandchildren, Gus Schaefer, Beverly Polanco, and John C. Polanco II.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Hackett Jr; parents; and two sisters, Geraldine Wetzel and Gloria Shelton.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 8:00 AM until time of service on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery.
