Austin Blair De Savigny

July 26, 1961 — November 10, 2011

Austin de Savigny, 50, of Lake Charles died on Thursday, November 10, 2011 in his residence.

Born in 1961 in California, Austin moved with his family to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he lived for 22 years. After attending Escola Americana in Rio, Austin attended the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janiero, St. Joseph's University in Vermont, and McNeese University. Austin was fluent in Portuguese and traveled throughout Latin America and Europe. Among Austin's many passions were philosophy, playing guitar, music, especially Rock n' Roll, and science fiction. For most of his life, Austin courageously fought against the relentless siege of schizophrenia.

Austin was a compassionate, generous, and loving person with a great sense of humor. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew and grandson. Austin will always live in the hearts of those he leaves behind: his mother, Marie "Beb" Roy de Savigny, his father, Richard de Savigny of Fortaleza, Brazil, his sister, Michelle de Savigny and her husband, William Nesbitt of New York, and his uncle, Chester Blair De Savigny and Chester's wife, Flora Mae De Savigny of Bryan, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell E. and Marie D. Roy, of Lake Charles and Austin Blair and Sheila Potter De Savigny, of Cosa Rica, England, and Texas.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Orange Grove Cemetery on Broad St. under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
