Austin Darnell Gross

Mr. Austin Darnell Gross, 72, of Sulphur and Lake Charles died on 24 March 2014 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Austin was born 15 July 1941 in Goshen, IN and lived most of his life in Sulphur. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Mike Hooks, Inc for over thirty years ending his time there as a Chief Engineer. Austin loved to have fun and he loved to joke around. He was a good man who loved life and everything about it. He was proud of his three boys and all they accomplished in their lives. Austin is survived by his wife, Martha Gross nee' Weikel, two sisters, Mary Ann Holmes and Rennie Hoelscher, brother, John, three sons, Jerry (Amanda Nichols), Joseph (Stephanie Dupuis) and Michael, three grandsons, Charles, Travis, and Nicholas, and one Granddaughter, Angela. He will be missed by all who knew him. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
