Austin Lane Broussard

July 3, 1996 — June 26, 2023

Austin Lane Broussard, 26, passed away suddenly on Monday June 26, 2023, in Lake Charles.

Austin was a native and life-long resident of Lake Charles. He was a 2014 graduate of Alfred M. Barbe High School, where he played football, and helped lead his team to victories as Wide Receiver # 14. Following high school, Austin attended McNeese State University. He continued to enjoy sports, particularly LSU Football as a fan. He recently took a trip to the Super Regionals to cheer on LSU Baseball. Austin was currently employed at Sentinel Integrity Solutions, a job he loved and excelled at.

A kindhearted young man, Austin loved being with others and would give anyone the shirt off his back if he felt they were in need. He was a jokester to his family and friends, and many of them looked up to him and turned to him for advice. He has been described by his friends as a smart and caring individual that they could always turn to in time of need, whether it was to lend a hand or just listen. His mother said he was her favorite son; his sisters would yell back, “He’s your only son!”.

Preceding Austin in death is his grandfather, Bruce Bech, Sr. Those left to honor and cherish his memories are his parents, Julie Bech Broussard and Mark Anthony, Lake Charles; grandmother, Lorriane Bech, Lake Charles; brother, Blake Broussard, Kinder; sisters, Lindsey Johnson (Dustin), Lake Charles; and Bailey Broussard and Morgan Broussard, both of Los Angeles, CA; nieces and nephews, Addsion, Gunnar and Malia; aunts and uncles, Jill Bech (Glen); Alice Bech and Bruce Bech, Jr. (Angie), all of Lake Charles; Mark Bech (Angie), Missouri; and Jennifer Bernat, Lake Charles; and numerous cousins and extended family of the heart.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday July 2, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation continues from 9:00 AM until the beginning of a Celebration of Austin’s Life at 10:00 AM on Monday July 3, Austin’s 27th birthday. Pastor Paula Raley will lead the celebration. A burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Austin’s friends and the community for reaching out to them with words of encouragement and compassion during this very difficult time.
