Azarie Felix Meaux Sr.

Azarie Felix Meaux, Sr., 80, passed away on November 4, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 2, 1943, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Abney Meaux and Bessie Mae Peloquin Meaux Bacon.
Azarie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He thoroughly enjoyed over 30 years of cross-country truck driving and serving at The Salvation Army. He loved spending time in his garden, telling stories, listening and singing along to French-Cajun and Bluegrass music, and was a life-long LSU Tigers fan. Azarie never met a stranger, was sure to light up a room with his infectious laugh and ensure that everyone felt included and loved.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife, Janice Cupp Meaux; his three sons, thirteen grandchildren, and five great grand children: Azarie Meaux Jr. (wife Susan, and children Brandon and Lindsey), William Meaux (wife Janet, and children Bradley, Tyler, Jon, Gracie, Daniel, Emma and Tate), Nathaniel Meaux (wife Donna, and children Jessica and Melanie); three stepchildren, Tammy Brown (husband Danny, and children Allyson and Zachary), Chuck Baker and Robert Baker.
Azarie was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of more than 30 years, Mary Emma Louise Meaux, Marilyn Meaux (William’s wife) and Andrew Meaux (Melanie’s son).
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Rev. Dave Lang will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on the evening of Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 4:00pm continuing until 7:00pm, and resuming on Wednesday morning at 10:00am and continuing until the start of the service at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Salvation Army of Lake Charles.
