Barbara O'Neal Irwin, 72, of Iowa, LA, died at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 14, 2014 in Lake Charles, LA with her family at her side. Mrs. Irwin was born February 28, 1942 in DeRidder, LA and lived in Iowa, LA for the past fifty years. She was a 1960 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School, attended McNeese State University, and worked and retired from the Calcasieu Marine National Bank as a Proof Reader and teller. Barbara was a devoted daughter, wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and doing for others before herself. She was an active member of East Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Irwin enjoyed spending time outdoors with her family and was also known for breeding and raising dogs throughout the years. Mrs. Irwin was preceded in death by her father, Wesley O'Neal. She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-three years, Lunsford Gale Irwin Jr. of Iowa; mother Jackie Mercer O'Neal, Moss Bluff; sons, Troy Lawrence Irwin and wife Ollie of Iowa, Brandon Conrad Irwin of Lake Charles, and Heath Alan Irwin and wife Chassidy of Geismar, LA; grandchildren, Amber, Natalie, Lindsey and Peyton Irwin. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday July 16 and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM Thursday July 17 at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday July 17, 2014 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alan Weishampel officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorials to be made in her memory to East Ridge Baptist Church, 5400 Hwy 397, Lake Charles, LA 70607.
