Barbara Ann Newman

Barbara Ann Stone Newman, 85, of Sulphur, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, surrounded by her family.

A lifelong Sulphur resident, Barbara retired from Calcasieu Parish School Board. On Christmas Eve 2020, she accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour. Barbara loved cooking, family gatherings, and her dogs. Her grandchildren were the center of her life; she loved cooking for them, having them stay with her after school, and spoiling them rotten. Barbara will be remembered for her strong and fiercely independent nature, and the great love she had for her family and the Lord.

Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Kandace Datenhoff (Nick), and Bradley Newman, and great grandson, Brooks Newman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mervin Paul Newman; son, James Newman; parents, John and Mary Stone; and two brothers, Johnny Stone and Paul Stone.

Graveside services for Barbara will be 11AM, Monday, October 2, 2023, in Farqhuar Cemetery.
