Barbara Anne Mason

Barbara Anne Mason, 63, of Sulphur, La., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 11, 2023, at a local hospital.  Barbara was born December 13, 1959, to Bobby and Jean Fortenberry.  On June 3, 2002, she married Butch Mason and they spent 21 wonderful years together.

Barbara was born and raised in Sulphur, La.  She loved raising and tending to her garden.  She loved agriculture and spending time with all kinds of animals.  When she wasn’t outdoors with her animals or taking care of her garden, she was indoors cooking one of her family’s favorite meals or being creative with her crafting.  Barbara loved the holidays and spending time with her family.  She owned a day care and was known as Nanny and loved and cared for many children for several years.  Barbara touched many people and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tommy “Butch” Mason; daughter, Ashley Dufresne (Matt); son, Jeremy Gibbons (Rachel), son, Derek Mason (Amanda); daughter, Devon Mitchell (Jason); sisters, Karen Henderson (John), Wyolene Davis of Ruston, La., brother, Robin Fortenberry of Ruston La.;  grandchildren, Sam Castro, Andrew Castro, Brady Mitchell, Reese Dufresne, Lillian Dufresne, McKynlee Bertrand, Aubrey Mason, Addyson Mason, Alyssa Mason, and Avary Mason; Several grand-pets.  Nieces, Kristy Folse (Chad), and Katy Wescott (Bobby), and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Jean Fortenberry.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of LCMH, specifically Dr. Lugo and Dr. Courville, Kaitlyn, Katie, Hailey, and Megan.

A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur, La., Father Michael Beverung will officiate.  There will be a Rosary at 8:30 AM, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.
