Barbara Credeur Hebert

November 30, 1952 — January 23, 2024

Barbara Credeur Hebert, 71, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles, a graduate of Marian High School and of the Catholic Faith. While she worked outside the home in many capacities, from being one of the women that lovingly prepared meals for children at their school to taking care of others who were not able to care for themselves fully due to health, her greatest and most celebrated title was being “Mom”. Each Sunday she would gather her family, and often times guests, to her home for an authentic “home cooked” meal. She continued this with her grandchildren and tirelessly made sure everyone was well cared for. In addition to cooking, Barbara also enjoyed sewing, making clothes, night gowns, pillowcases and chairbacks, to name a few.

Barbara would enjoy going fishing on summer trips to Toledo Bend. The “fish” was not the main reason and purpose for her outings, but rather spending time and being together as a family, loving one another. Her compassion also went out to her pets. She had a heart for the four-legged companions and spoiled them as much as she did her own family.

Preceding Barbara in death are her parents, Delton Credeur and Merline Theresa (Cormier) Lopez, two siblings, a nephew and beloved four-legged furry companions. She leaves to continue and share her legacy, the two children, D.W. Hebert and wife Anita, Iowa and Becky Hebert, Lake Charles; grandson, Hunter Hebert and granddaughter, AbbyGail Hebert; siblings, Elaine Trahan and husband Brian; Helen Credeur (Butch), Delton Credeur, Jr., John Credeur and Allen Credeur; nephew, Scott Trahan; niece, Casey Trahan; great nephew, Westyn Trahan and numerous people she considered extended family of the heart.

As to Barbara’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, the family will gather privately at Toledo Bend and celebrate the life she lived and shared with her family.
