Barbara G. Young

Gone from our lives, but not from our hearts Barbara G. Young, 85, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 in a local care center. Barbara was a native of Alexandria, LA who lived in Sulphur most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a graduate of St. Charles Academy. Mrs. Young was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, she was on the Liturgy Committee and received the Devoted Service Award at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Barbara is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca S. Young, Penny Y. Suarez and husband, Wayne all of Sulphur and Jeanie Y. Watkins and husband, Mickey of Madison, MS; son, Richard H. Rick Young and wife, Janelle of Clinton, LA; 5 grandchildren, Mandy Woodward and husband, Josh, Katie Murphey and husband, Beau , Lori Beth Watkins, of Madison, MS, Kimberly Suarez of Lake Charles and Stephanie Suarez of Sulphur; 2 great grandchildren, Mims Woodward and Wat Woodward. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Loree R. Young, Jr.; parents, Henry and Bessie Ducote Gaillard; and a sister, Janice Gaillard. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at11 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur with Rev. Edward Richard, M.S. officiating. Burial will be in Prien Pines Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the church from 9 a.m. till time of the service. Throughout her illness, she smiled, loved and laughed with her family, friends and those who cared for her. The family would like to thank friends who always asked about MeMe and High Hope Care Center, especially the Northwest wing, for loving our mother as their own. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Liturgical Ministry at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
