Barbara Hogg Baird

Barbara Virginia Hogg Baird, 78, of Lake Charles died Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in the comfort of her daughter’s home.

Mrs. Baird was born in Dallas, TX and has lived most of her life in Lake Charles.  She was a 1959 graduate of Byrd High School.  She studied at Louisiana State University and obtained a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from Lamar University.  She retired a Speech Pathology Teacher with the Calcasieu Parish School Board after many years of travel throughout Calcasieu Parish.  Mrs. Baird enjoyed singing in the church choir and was talented Flutist with the Louisiana Symphony.  She was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America, as both of her sons reached Eagle Scout rank.  She also enjoyed cooking, shopping, making jewelry and loved POLITICS.  Mrs. Baird will be most remembered for her tender heart, love of animals and for her overwhelming desire to help others.  She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Roberta “Bobbee” Lee Boudreaux and husband Craig of Lake Charles, Vickie Elizabeth Baird of Lake Charles; one son, David Mark Baird and wife Lisa of Henryville, IN; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three nephews; one niece and one brother, William Robert “Bill” Hogg and wife Dottie of Shreveport.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of thirty-eight years, Jeff Woody Baird, Sr. and son, Jeff Stotle Baird.

The family of Mrs. Baird extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses, aids and social workers of heart of hospice for the excellent in care and compassion given to their Mom.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM Friday August 9, 2019 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  The Very Reverend Anthony Fontenot will officiate.  Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation Thursday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Cursillo rosary beginning at 6:00 PM.   Visitation Friday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
