Barbara Jo Thomas

Barbara Jo Thomas, 80, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 25, 2018 at a local hospital, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Thomas attended Marion High School, was a native of Lake Charles, and was a long time resident of Moss Bluff. She met her late husband of 60 years while he was stationed at Chennault Air Force Base. She got to enjoy traveling all over the country with her husband and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was to gather with family and friends where she made sure everyone was well fed. She is remembered as a tech savvy and elegant woman. She will be dearly missed by her 5 daughters she lovingly raised and many others that will remember her as their Meme.

She is survived by 5 daughters, Terry Lynn Thomas of Moss Bluff, Tammy Fontenot (Bryan) of Ragley, Karen Thomas of Moss Bluff, Donna Jo Gaudet (Steve) of Moss Bluff, and Ann Thomas Ivey of Moss Bluff; 9 grandchildren, Courtney (Ray), Nicholas (Courtney), Hunter (Jeslyn), Scott, Morgan (Kevin), Sammi Jo, Ricky (Amanda), Cody (Jessica), and Lakyn; 8 great grandchildren, Rett, Maggie, Miley Jo, Reese, Grayson, Dax Parker, Hadley, and Charli Kate; 2 brothers, Terrell Fowler of Moss Bluff, and Tommy Brown (Renee) of Ragley; sister-in-law, Shera Fowler of Ragley; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Charles Thomas; son, Michael Charles Thomas Jr.; mother, Frankie Barbara Leslie Fowler Brown; father, Joseph Russell Fowler; 3 brothers, Russell Alvin Fowler, John Porter Fowler, and Richard Roy Fowler; and her step father, Clifford Brown.

A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 11AM on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Burial will be at Old Ritchie Cemetery. Rev. Luke Liechty will officiate. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home from 5PM to 8PM on Monday, May 28. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 10AM until the start of the service.
