Funeral services for Barbara Marie Ford, 79, of Sulphur, will be held on Wednesday, March 2, at 3 pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Carlyss with Father Joseph Aquino officiating. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery, Carlyss. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 1, from 1pm " 9 pm at Robison Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 pm at Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 8am until service time at the funeral home. Barbara was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1950, and then received her BS from SLI (ULL) in 1954. She got her teaching certificate from McNeese State University and later her Masters in Education. She taught Home Economics for a few years at McNeese, and then taught at Jake Drost School for Exceptional Children. She later retired from LeBlanc Middle School. Barbara was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss; a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #1255 from Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church for 60 years; and a member of the Sulphur Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Roy Ford; her parents, Azzie and Charles Bahnsen; and one sister, Evelyn Genaro. Barbara is survived by two daughters: Libby Ford of Sulphur, and Mimi Ryan and husband Jacob of Lake Charles; two sons: Charlie Ford of Los Angeles, California, and Mike Ford of Sulphur; one sister: Charlotte Williams and husband Sterling of Sulphur; and one granddaughter: Annemarie Ryan of Lake Charles.
