Barbara "Bobbie" Ogea, 87, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, at a local hospital. Born on November 5, 1937, in Iota, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Lydia Broussard Pousson and Pierre Pousson.
Bobbie graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School in Iota and furthered her education in business school. She embarked on a secretarial career, which led her to Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. It was there she met her future husband, Jim Ogea. The couple married and welcomed their only child, Eric. After Eric's birth, Bobbie devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom.
She had a passion for maintaining a beautiful yard, cooking, sewing, and various crafts. Also, a lifelong sports enthusiast, Bobbie enjoyed many years of league bowling. As her son, Eric, grew older, she embarked on a second career as a licensed Floral Designer, a role she cherished for ten years.
A devout Catholic, Bobbie attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church before becoming a parishioner at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Together with Jim, she dedicated one hour each week to adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, a devotion they maintained for over 28 years.
Bobbie's pride and joy were her three grandchildren, whom she adored spoiling, cooking for, and sending care packages to on special occasions.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Eric Ogea (Kitty) of Covington, LA; her grandchildren, Kathryn, Alex, and Kyle Ogea; her brother, Leonard Pousson of Lake Charles, LA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Jim" Ogea, after 57 wonderful years of marriage; her parents; and her siblings, Lubert "Joe," Milfred, and Harris Pousson, Verda Baldassari, Norma Pettijohn, and Connie Watson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 5495 Elliott Rd., with Msgr. Jace Eskind serving as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sallier Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
