Barbara Menard Pearson

Barbara Menard Pearson passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was born on September 15, 1946, to Oris Menard and Wanda Hayes Menard in Gueydan, Louisiana.

Barbara was known for her incredible work ethic, a trait she proudly passed on to her children. Throughout her life, she wore many hats, including Master Florist and co-owner of Lakeside Flowers, owner and operator of a seafood market, dealer at Coushatta Casino, and Table Games Supervisor at L’Auberge Casino. She also served her community as a Councilwoman for the Town of Lake Arthur and as a member of the Jeff Davis Parish Housing Board. Most recently, she was honored to serve as the Grand Marshal of the Lake Arthur Christmas Parade.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and faithful Catholic, Barbara attended daily Mass, prayed the Rosary, served as a lector, and sang in the choir at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Phyllis Loftin (Billy); her son, Christopher Pearson (Lana); seven grandchildren, Lindsay Bourgeois (Jacque), Haylie Royer (Ricky), Logan Loftin (Kaitlyn), Blake Pearson, Lance Pearson (Kenedie), Jake Armand, and Grant Armand; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Kate Bourgeois and Elliott Louise Bourgeois; her sisters, Loretta Hoffpauir (Mickey) and Shelley Istre (Michael); and her beloved furry companion, Apollo.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Renee’ Pearson; her parents; her sister, Caroline Menard Hebert; and her brother, Randy Paul “Butch” Menard.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Calcasieu Community Care Center, especially Breanna Ryans, Brittani Easton, Tychinia Roy, Ms. Shea, Ms. Rachel, and all those who provided exceptional and compassionate care to Barbara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 203 Commercial Street, Lake Arthur, LA. Rev. Jay Alexius will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Miguez Funeral Home Chapel, 829 4th Street, Lake Arthur, with a Rosary recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM Wednesday until the procession to the church for Mass.

Pallbearers will be Lance Pearson, Jake Armand, Grant Armand, Logan Loftin, Eric Duplechin, and Seth Broussard. William Willis and Blake Pearson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
