Barbara Ann Salter Demarie, 69, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Demarie was born in Many, LA and has lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School where she was a Gatorette and an active member of her class reunion committee. She worked over twenty years as a secretary for Fire Safety of Louisiana and seven years for Chrisope Technologies from which she retired. Mrs. Demarie was an avid sports fan who could most often be found on the sidelines or in the stands cheering on her children, grandchildren and their friends or in the kitchen cooking for the team, coaches, countless athletic events and family gatherings. She especially loved cheering on LSU and the Barbe Bucs. Mrs. Demarie will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven and Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Paul Demarie and wife Tara and David Demarie and wife Ashley, of Lake Charles; daughter, Becky Lee and husband Jody of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Wyatt and Kade Demarie, Baylie and Jake Lee, and Madisyn, Kennedie and Dylan Demarie; two brothers, Billy Salter and wife Kat of Lake Charles and Greg Salter of Nederland, TX; one sister, Patti Spencer and husband Neil of Richmond, TX; nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorraine Peck and James Clyde Salter and her ex-husband and father of her children, John Demarie.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM in the funeral home.
