Barbara Stewart Goss, 92, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 in a Texas Nursing Home. Barbara was born on April 21, 1925 in Ponca City, OK to Ralph and Jessie Walthall Stewart.
Her family moved from Oklahoma to Lake Charles where she was a graduate of Lake Charles High School. After graduation, she worked as a clerk for Magnolia Life Insurance Company. She also worked for the Lake Charles American Press and for Schlumberger Oil Field Company. Barbara proudly served her country during World War II as a “Rosie the Riveter” in California. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and her son Monty Frank Goss, her step-son “Don” Goss and his wife Sue. She is also pre-deceased by her sister Marion Stewart Cook and her brother Robert “Bob” Stewart.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mike Lee (Kay) Goss, Kim Stewart (Donna) Goss, and Norman Scott (Kathleen) Goss along with her daughter-in-law, Karen Goss. She also leaves her grandchildren Stacy Quake, Jennifer Brothers, Lee Goss, Rachael Anderson and Chloe’ Goss along with her great-grandchildren Cole and Kimber Quake and Drayden, Caden and Teagan Brothers, along with her niece Connie (Gene) Hay.
Barbara’s family and friends will gather for a graveside service under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home at Highland Memory Gardens at 11AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 officiated by Rev. Marcus Wade.
