Beatrice Fontenot Vizina

August 15, 1929 — September 28, 2021

Beatrice “Bea” Fontenot Vizina, 92, of Lake Charles passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in a local healthcare facility.

Mrs. Vizina was born in Oberlin, LA and lived most of her life in Lake Charles.  She enjoyed many things through the years but always liked being at home.  She enjoyed reading and watching “Chanel 9”, only the shows they ran, most importantly- her soap operas.  She was an admirable lady of her generation who devoted her life and her love to the Lord and her family.  Mrs. Vizina shared a true friendship with her siblings and neighbors and genuinely enjoyed their visits around the table and on the porch sipping coffee.  She found great joy in having her grandchildren over periodically for a week at a time; picnics with her granddaughters and trips to the park with her grandsons, a time in their lives they all have come to treasure. She was a wonderful cook, round steak gravy, sausage red gravy and gumbo being her most requested dishes.  During her last twenty years, she became part of the Tower Oaks family where she looked forward to socializing and special events.  Mrs. Vizina leaves a family, who shares her kind humble spirit, a great love of the Lord and family unity.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Patricia “Pat” Demarets Fuselier and husband Charles of Lake Charles; son, Gregory Lance Demarets of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Melissa “Missy” Bostick (Tommy) of Fenton, Wendy Fuselier McCabe (Jamie) of Houston; Christopher “Chris” Fuselier (Christi) of Lafayette; Bryan Demarets (Stephanie) of Lake Charles and Sean Demarets Conner (Sarah) of Moss Bluff; ten great-grandchildren and twin sister, Leatrice Joyce Faulk of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lettel Vizina; parents, Jean Baptiste and Mary Regina Fontenot; three sisters, Mary Ann Manuel and husband Evan P., Lillian Fontenot and husband Houston and Belle McDaniel and husband Davis and two brothers, John Fontenot, Jr. and wife Rose and an infant brother, Matthew Fontenot.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Friday, October 1st, 2021 at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Her Grandson, Reverend Chris Fuselier and Father Levi Thompson will officiate.  Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Services Friday will begin with a Scripture service and rosary at 11:00 AM followed by visitation until the time of service in the church.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Youngsville, 623 Lafayette St., Youngsville, LA 70592.
