Beatrice L. "Peggy" Claudel

Beatrice L. "Peggy" Thompson Claudel, 81, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 in a local healthcare facility. Mrs. Claudel was born in Saltville, VA but lived most of her life in Lake Charles where she met her husband and raised her four boys. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and attained her Bachelor's degree in nursing from McNeese State. She loved nursing and worked over thirty years as an RN at St Patrick's hospital, most of which as night supervisor. Mrs. Claudel was an active supporter of her boys' activities and was involved in countless field trips, scouting events, school and church activities. In her later years, she enjoyed retirement and traveling with her husband in their Fifth wheel trailer. She was a member of St Luke-Simpson Methodist church and an active member of the McNeese Alumni Association. She will be most remembered for her love, devotion, and labor and generosity which she gave unconditionally to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, William Mark Claudel and wife Stephanie of Baton Rouge; Eric J Claudel and wife Kathryn of Lake Charles; Dr C Drew Claudel of Old Hickory, TN; and W Dale Claudel and wife Lisa of Spring, TX; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty four years, Ernest J "Ernie" Claudel; parents, W. Ed and Opal Thompson; younger brother, W. E. "Sonny" Thompson and grandson, Christopher Chase Claudel. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 25, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Henry Bowdon will officiate. Gathering of friends Tuesday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial donations may be made to her childhood church, McCready United Methodist Church, 1807 Saltville Highway, Saltville, VA 24370.
