Benjamin Edward Ned, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, July 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Benjamin was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born on January 7, 1939, in Opelousas, Louisiana to Albert and Arlene Chenier Ned. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of PPG Industries for almost 36 years before he retired years ago.
He and his wife, Ruby took pride in taking care of others and helping those in need, often times opening up their home to help raise multiple family members’ children as their own. Benjamin was of the Catholic faith, and was a founding member of the original St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching western movies with his wife, going to zydeco dances, trail riding on the weekends and barbequing for church bazaars and election campaigns. In his spare time, he enjoyed visiting the casinos and traveling “down east” with his wife.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of 65 years, Ruby Gallow Ned; his sons, Charles Ned (Allison), Benjamin Ned, Jr. (Anissa), Albert Ned (Tina Marie) and Joseph Ned (Kristin); his daughter, Synthia (Elwayne); his siblings, David, Harold, Margaret, Catherine and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous very special family friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Paul, Alton, Herman, Roosevelt, Phillip, Herbert “PeeWee” and Aristille “Geno” Ned; and his infant grandchildren, Albert Ned, Jr., and Liara Mary Ned.
Benjamin’s family would like to gratefully thank the compassionate staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Harbor Hospice, Evangeline Home Health, Dr. Gary Kohler, Ms. Peggy, Drs. Liwliwa and Rodolfo Ramos and Ms. Theresa.
