Benny Larocca

January 23, 1936 — February 10, 2021

Benny LaRocca, 85, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.  Benny was born on January 23, 1936 to Leon Paul LaRocca and Mary Theresa Mosca LaRocca. 

Benny was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana where he graduated from Landry High School and loved boxing, playing football, and running track.  After attending McNeese State University, he served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany.  He was a long-time member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church.  Benny worked on the docks for Lykes Brothers Steamship Company and the Teamsters.  He loved sports and fishing but most of all he loved helping raise the grandchildren and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Barry Scott LaRocca, his two brothers, Charles LaRocca and Billy LaRocca.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty LaRocca, and his son Ricky LaRocca (Jessica) of Lake Charles.  He leaves behind one sister, Shirley LaRocca Wing of Iowa and one brother, Leonard (Barbara) LaRocca of Iowa, along with his granddaughter, Alexis LaRocca of Lafayette; his four grandsons, Blake LaRocca of Lake Charles; Ryan LaRocca (Jonna) of Lacassine; Hunter LaRocca of Lacassine; and Grant Gilley of Lake Charles; and four beloved great grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Margaret Catholic Church.  The Rev. Nathan Long will officiate.  Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  A gathering of family and friends will begin in the church at 11:00 AM until the start of the mass with a rosary being recited at 11:30 AM. **Please observe social distancing and all attendees must wear a mask**

The family of Benny LaRocca would like to extend their gratitude to Katherine, R.N., and the Heart of Hospice team as well as Father Nathan Long.
