Bernice E. Lafleur Bell

Bernice Bell, 84, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 in a Lake Charles Hospital.


She was born February 12, 1927 in Mamou, Louisiana, the daughter of Isreal and Francois (Guillory) LaFleur. She lived most of her life in Baton Rouge, but also called Lake Charles and Lafayette home as well. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and McNeese State University. She was a Real Estate Broker and served as Vice President of Realty Mart, Inc. of Baton Rouge for many years. She and her husband, Fred served as foster parents for Catholic Social Services in their early married years. She enjoyed quilting and tatting and loved to cook gumbo for the family gatherings. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Lafayette and St. Jude Parish in Baton Rouge.


Bernice leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Lisa Bell Reinauer of Lake Charles and son, Mark S. Bell, Sr. and wife Fran of Baton Rouge and 5 grand children, Alex Reinauer of Lake Charles, Steven Bell and his wife Brooke, Landon, Austin and Kristen Bell, all of Lafayette and two sisters, Essie Culotta of Baton Rouge and Ethel Boley of East Liverpool, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Fred Bell, Jr.; parents, Isreal and Francois (Guillory) LaFleur, four siblings Roy and Emile Lafleur, Nola Young and Beulah "Boots" Fisher.


Her Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM in The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Monsignor Harry Grieg will officiate. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM and continue from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM, Saturday in Johnson Funeral Home.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Social Services.
