Berry Lowell "Bj" Long Jr.

Berry Lowell “BJ” Long, Jr., 36, of Iowa passed away unexpectedly at 7:16 AM on Thursday, July 29, 2021, in his residence.

BJ was born on September 1, 1984, in Lake Charles and was a 2002 graduate of Iowa High School.  He joined the US Army to defend our country in the Afghanistan War and became a decorated veteran.  BJ was a member of Waters Edge Church and recently accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

He will be remembered as the life of the party, always making people laugh.  BJ will be missed dearly as a wonderful son, father, brother, family man, friend, and soldier.  He could often be found watching documentaries in his spare time.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Morgan, McKayla, and Declan Long; Gage and Ella Grace Russo; mother, Catherine Long; siblings, Sean Long, Megan (Chris)Thacker, Jenee (Carl) Joseph, and Misty (Patrick) Braswell; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Berry Long, Sr. and his grandparents, Vince E. and Eula Tarver and Ted and Lois Long.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at University Baptist Church.  His brother-in-law, Rev. Carl Joseph, will officiate.  Cremation was entrusted with Johnson Funeral Home.  A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 PM until the start of the services.
