Bertha Lee Meche

Bertha Lee Meche, 76, of Normangee, TX passed away on November 26, 2019. She was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake and the Lady’s Altar Society. Bertha retired from the Diocese of Lake Charles as the caretaker of the Bishops’ residence. She enjoyed playing pokeno, sitting around the fire listening to “Chank a Chank” Cajun French music with her family and friends. Bertha also loved nature and watching all the wild birds and animals that visited her yard.

Bertha is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Jerome B. Meche; six children, Mark Meche and wife Tanya of DeQuincy, Sandra Aguillard and husband David. Lori Liles and husband Jimmy, Catherine Reed and husband James, all of Normangee, TX, Christopher Meche of Orange, TX, and Jennifer Meche of Moss Bluff; 24 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren;5 siblings, Ann Leger, Johnny Mott, Patsy Bunch, Joseph Mott and Alvin “Duke” Mott, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Marie Meche; 3 grandsons, Bryan Meche, Mason Chambers, and John Colin Kelley; great grandson, Landon Wayne Chambers; parents, Alvin Mott, Sr. and Zulma Mott; 2 siblings, Doris Faye Robison and Hubert Mott.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10 A.M. at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake with Fr. Michael Barras officiating. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 5-8 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. There will be no visitation the day of the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.
