Beryl A. Marcantel, 66, passed away on May 9, 2017 in a local hospital after a brief illness surrounded by her family. A Mamou native, Beryl has lived in Westlake for over 55 years and graduated from Westlake High School where she played softball. She immediately began her career with Bell South/AT&T and retired after 42 years of service. She dedicated much of her life to the care of her mother and younger brother. Beryl was fondly called “Nanny” by the nieces and nephews she spoiled. She was a fiercely independent woman who will be remembered for her feisty (and often sassy) personality, a deep love for her family and Christ, and a generous heart that she hid well.
Survivors include three brothers, Edward Marcantel of Carlyss, Gerald Marcantel of Lake Charles and Harold Marcantel and wife Sandra of Vinton, nine nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and great nephews, her best friend of 45 years, Rose Leger of Lake Charles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raoul and Agnes Marcantel; three brothers, Silton "Blackie”, James, and Charles Glenn Marcantel; niece, Jackie Marcantel; nephew, Jerry Marcantel, and sister-in-law, Virginia Marcantel.
