Betty Duncan Martin, 65, of Sulphur, LA passed away on September 1, 2021, in a local hospital.
Betty was born on February 25, 1956, in Doniphan, MO to Robert and Inez Duncan. “Miss” Betty, as so many knew her, lit up the room with her zest for life, witty humor (which many times was about herself), robust laughter, and her beautiful smile. She loved and cherished her family, but Betty treated every person she encountered like they were her family too. Betty served the Lord in many ways, but mostly by reflecting the love, joy, and compassion of Christ to all she met and embraced. Betty was the biggest and number one fan of her children and grand children whether it was in the rodeo arena, chanting from the top bleacher at basketball, football, and soccer games. She proudly attended every one of the school functions/awards for her family encouraging them to conquer their dreams!!! She served in the Cursillo movement, LaSalette ACTS team, and volunteered at New Life Counseling Center all for over 25 years. Betty was a member of the Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church for 44 years where she raised her family.
Those left to cherish her loving memory and to carry on her matriarchal legacy of family and faith are her husband of 47 years, Mitch Martin; 9 children, Stoney Martin and wife Mandy, Jessica Gunter and husband Jason, Josue Martin and wife Robin, Caleb Martin and wife Ashley, Clare LeBlanc and husband Tanny, Casey Martin and wife Shawna, Jairus Martin, Mateo Martin and wife Lakyn, Lydia Townson and husband Chad; 54 grandchildren; great grandchildren; siblings, Kay Sahualla, John Duncan, Bobby Duncan, Sharon Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Judy Duncan, Linda Sigmond, Robert Duncan; two angels at birth; and two grandchildren angels, Samuel Gunter and Nathaniel LeBlanc.
