Betty Elaine House, 67, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 12:28 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in her residence.

Betty was born December 13, 1953 in Lake Charles, LA.  She was a 1971 graduate of Iowa High School and attended Sowela Technical School.  Throughout her career, she worked for Lake Charles Diesel, Sisco Foods and retired from First United Methodist Church, where she ran the kitchen at the school.  Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she could be found every Sunday in the nursery.  Throughout the years spent with the children, she developed many strong bonds, touched lives and has many cherished memories.  She loved to cook and enjoyed making cakes for special occasions.  She will be remembered as a wonderful cook and was very talented in the kitchen.  She also enjoyed catering through the years, listening to music and had a great love for her animals.  During her younger years, she loved to travel and hike.  She had a great love for her family and will always be remembered as a sweet, kind, and loving sister, companion and aunt.  Throughout life, Betty was always giving of herself with her time and love, and she continued that giving through death with the gift of organ donation.

Betty is survived by James Blanco, the love of her life for the past thirty-two years; sisters, Sharon Thibodeaux and husband Harold, Mary Kate Roberts and husband Bill, and Hollie Saltzman and husband Jimmy Paul, all of Lake Charles; sisters-in-law, Rosalind Blanco Cook of New Orleans, Barbara Vallee of Ellicott City, MD, Eleanor Will and husband Timothy of Rutherfordton, NC, Melanie Stockwell and husband David of Pennsylvania,  and Melissa Blanco of Hoboken, NJ; brothers-in-law, Arthur Blanco and Louis Blanco and wife Mary, all of Metairie, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray Calvin “Bo” House and Frances Vivian “Billie” House.

Her memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at First United Methodist Church.  Reverend Weldon Bares will officiate.  A gathering of family members and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
