Betty Hanks Chauvin

Betty Hanks Chauvin ,89, passed away Monday June 24, 2024, surrounded by family. Betty was born April 30, 1935, to Ezora Mae Schexnider and Wavel J. Hanks.

Betty grew up in the Crowley area. She earned her nursing LPN from Gulf Area Vocational Tech and worked as a nurse LPN for over 10 years. She enjoyed playing card games, bingo, and Pokeno with family and friends. She was an active member of a camping club, traveling the country alongside her loving husband. Betty loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memories are children; Roxanne Harrington (Lennis Cormier), Shannon Credeur (Jeffrey), Becky Lyons, Lynn Freeman Lyons III (Chandra), John Michael Chauvin (Gretchen), Norma Jean Sovereign and Norman Joseph Chauvin Jr. (Paula); sister, Sammie Guillory; grandchildren, fourteen; great grandchildren, sixteen.

Those that proceed her in death are husband of 40 years, Norman Joseph Chauvin Sr.; daughter, Mary Ellen Bogan; grandsons, Draik Allan Cormier and Nicholas Bryon Caskey; granddaughter, Micah Ariel Sovereign; stepson, James Chauvin and parents, Ezora Mae Schexnider and Wavel J. Hanks.

Services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home ,4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA 70605, on Saturday June 29, 2024, starting at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home and continue till 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Kamryn Harrington, John Bogan, Charles Bogan, Jeffrey Credeur, Chuckie Landry, and Cori Nugier.
