Betty Jane Jensen

Betty Jane Jensen, 80, of Lake Charles died at 7:10 AM on Friday, December 07, 2012 in a Sulphur care facility.

Mrs. Jensen was born in Lake Charles on February 22, 1932 and lived here all of her life until Hurricane Rita moved her to Westlake with her daughter. In her later years, Mrs. Jensen worked at The Fair. She attended Lake Charles Bible Church.

BJ was a loving mother, daughter, and grandmother to her family. She loved to cook for her family and loved them dearly. She will be truly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Jeanette Jensen Bowdon and her husband of 32 years, Joseph H. Bowdon III; a granddaughter, Allison Bowdon; three granddaughters that live out of town; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Bradley and Hattie Bell Spell; her husband of over 30 years, Herman Jensen; a son, Russell Jensen; a brother-in-law, Rodney Jensen; and a sister, Pearl Jensen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 10, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Henry Bowdon, Jr. and Rev. Karl Klaus will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday and continue until the start of the service.

A special thanks to High Hope Care Center and Brighton Bridge Hospice for taking such excellent care of BJ since she has been sick. Also, to Christus St. Patrick Hospital and Cornerstone for their help and care before going to High Hope Care Center.
