Betty Jo Sonnier

Betty Jo Sonnier, 71, passed away in a local hospital on Sunday, September 10, 2023 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on February 4, 1952 in Lake Arthur, LA to Wallace and Delsi Benoit Suire.

Betty Jo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by her beloved family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Kermith Sonnier; children, Chris Scalisi (Amy) and Tara Proffitt (Chad); grandchildren, Brian, Dreyke, Zowye, Nadjia, and Addison; step-sons, Sherman Sonnier (Jody) and Keith Sonnier (Stephanie); step-daughter, Cecilia Sonnier; step-grandchildren, Steven, Benji, Keleigh, Tabitha and Pyper; siblings, Wallace Suire, Harry Suire, Jerry Suire, Lois Vinson, Jeanette Hay, Joyce Backlan, Patsy Leonards and Peggy Henriksen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Robert and Gilbert Suire.

Her funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.

Father Keith Pellerin and Father Levi Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Consolata Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A rosary will be recited at 12:00 p.m.
