Betty Joy Faulk Lormand, 82, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, August 01, 2013 in a local healthcare facility.
Mrs. Lormand was born in Ebenezer, LA, raised in Estherwood, LA where she was a graduate of Estherwood High School and has lived nearly seventy years in Lake Charles. During her younger years she enjoyed participating in theatre, was awarded a scholarship and was very creative. Mrs. Lormand followed her children's activities in Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church for twenty-six years. She enjoyed serving and helping others in need throughout the local, national and international areas. She visited and cooked for countless families, delivered dinner to them, cooked for them in their homes, visited widow's homes, prisons and orphanages and prayed faithfully specific prayers for specific people. She attended prayer group twice a week, found great importance in tithing to both the church and mission work, instilling that quality in her late husband. Mrs. Lormand took pride in her family, the love of her husband, children, grandchildren and family gatherings. She will be most remembered as a woman of faith, prayer and a Servant of the Lord.
She leaves to honor her memory, four children, Brenda Lormand Underwood and husband Terry of Westlake, Ronald Lane Lormand and wife Jennifer, John Edward Lormand and James Patrick Lormand and wife Rebecca, all of Lake Charles; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Huey Cornelius Faulk and wife Helen of Lake Charles and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of sixty-five years, Merlyn F. Lormand; parents, Cornelius and Fadra Hoffpauir Faulk; sister, Wanda Jewel Humble and great-grandson, Hayden Underwood.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 03, 2013 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverends James Patrick Lormand, Ryan Barnett and Gary Evers will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Saturday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
