Betty Joyce Richard Hooper

Betty Joyce Richard Hooper, 70, of Moss Bluff passed away at 5:24 AM on Sunday, June 20, 2021, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Hooper was born on September 21, 1950, in Lafayette and resided in Lake Charles all her life.  She devoted herself to taking care of her family and being a caretaker. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Christopher W. Richard (Amy Pettifield) of Ragley, Arnold J. Richard, Jr. (Michelle) of Moss Bluff, Michael Joseph Richard, Sr. (Angel Marie Stacey) of Pensacola, FL, and Frances Marie Aden (Billy) of Moss Bluff; siblings, Sarah Louise Abshire and Arian Joseph Abshire (Natalie) all of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Greg and Caleb Richard, Danielle McDaniels (Bailey), Lacey, Sammantha, Michael “Bubba” Jr., Chase, Keith Paul, Michael Lawrence, Adam, Anthony, and Antonia Richard, and Brittany Wolford; and great grandchildren, Makaila Richard and Easton McDaniels.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Arnold James Richard, Sr.; her second husband, Lawrence Daniel Hooper; and nine siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 24, 2021, in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Moss Bluff.  The Rev. Terry Ardizzone will officiate.  Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  A gathering will begin at 2:00 PM until the start of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for outstanding expenses.
