Betty Meaux Bourque

Betty Jane Meaux Bourque, 85, of Lake Charles, LA, gained her wings on Thursday, June 16, 2022 in a local care facility.

Ms. Bourque was born September 25, 1936 in Mermentau, LA, but was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles.  She was a devoted member of the Catholic faith and retired from Singer Sewing Machine Company.  She loved sewing and reading and during her younger years, could often be found dancing in her high heels.  Later in life, she traded those heels for her favorite snack, Dr. Pepper and Cheetos.

Ms. Bourque is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Bourque and wife JoAnn; daughter-in-love, Wendy Funk; grandchild, Autumn Bourque; best friend and first cousin, Dottie Travis; and her niece, Sharon Istre.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Burt Kibodeaux, Jr.; her parents, Cleveland and Lucia Istre Meaux; and her service GRAND-dog and angel, Belle Funk.

A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.  Reverend Zack Rodriquez will officiate.  A gathering of friends and family will be on Friday from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.
