Betty R. Owens

Betty R. Owens 75, of Lake Charles died at 10:40 AM Sunday, June 30, 2013 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Owens was born in Mowata, Louisiana on August 26, 1937 to the parents of Edna and Clarence Robinson. She was raised in Pine Island before moving to Lake Charles in 1955. Mrs. Owens was a 1954 graduate of Welsh High School. She worked for South Central Bell in Lake Charles for many years. She also worked for and retired from the Calcasieu Parish Court House for the Calcasieu Parish Sherriff's office.

Betty is survived by two sons, Gordon Gordy Owens of Lake Charles, LA, and Alan Owens and wife Pam of the Woodlands, TX, three sisters: Barbara Trahan of Pine Island, LA, Peggy Strubb of Westlake, LA, and Bethel Robinson of Pine Island, one brother, Tommy Robinson of Pine Island, one grandson, Marc Owens, three step grandchildren: Lauren, Andrew, and Tyler Watson.

She is preceded in death by one infant son Michael Joseph Owens, two sisters, Nora Manuel and Grace Smith, two brothers, James Jack Robinson and Kenneth Keno Robinson, and her parents, Edna and Clarence Robinson.

A memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 3. 2013 at 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. David Dewitt will officiate. Visitation will begin on Wednesday at 8:30 AM until the time of service.
