Bettye was born in 1929 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Louis and Bertha Jensen Piboin. She died on Wednesday October 21, 2015 surrounded by her loving family, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer at the age of 86. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ted Chehotsky, son, Mike Chehotsky, brother, Lamar Piboin, sisters, Dorothy Stacey and Doris Duncan, sisters-in-law, Sophie Meka, Jay Dulski, Helen Matuska and Mary Blodnicker; brothers-in-law, Peter Meka, Jim Dulski, Paul Duncan, Truman Stacey, John Chehotsky; niece, Darlene Lee; nephews, Jimmy Dulski, Louie Piboin; and many others. She is survived by her sons, Marty Chehotsky (Nancy), Darryl Chehotsky and Stan Chehotsky (Charlotte); seven grandchildren, Thomas (Brooke), Nicholas, John M, David, Andrew, Kaitlyn and Heather Chehotsky; four great grandchildren, Ruby, Mason, Addison and Lilli Chehotsky; nephews, Bryan Duncan, Bert Piboin, Rick Dulski; nieces, Pam Beasley, Cheryl Horst, Tina Guidry, Alexandra Lee, Kristen Doxey, Joan Meka, Gloria Dulski, Lorraine Dulski; lifelong friend, Kitty Lahood; her card playing friends, Evelyn Fuller, Ellen Murchinson, Pam Dionne; and her beloved dog, Daisy. Bettye was a lifelong member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters. She was twice selected as Catholic Daughter of the Year, and most recently received her 35th Anniversary Award. She lived through the great depression and believed in hard work. She grew up on the family farm near the corner of Lake and McNeese Street. Her family raised cows, chickens, pigs, and grew their own vegetables and fruit and shared with many. Bettye was a graduate of LaGrange High School and McNeese College. She enjoyed attending the monthly LaGrange Lunch-Bunch meetings and annual reunions. She was employed by Chennault Air Force Base many years ago; worked at the Lake Charles American Press for many years and at Administrative Services in Lake Charles. We would like to thank The Harbor Hospice physicians and the staff for their compassionate and professional treatment while in their care. Her pallbearers will be her five grandsons, Thomas, Nicholas, John, David and Andrew Chehotsky and her nephew, Bryan Duncan. Funeral Arrangements will be handled by Johnson Funeral Home and burial at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday, October 29th at 11:00 AM, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM on Friday, October 30th, until 10:30 AM, with the funeral mass at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, at 11:00 AM, with Monsignor James Gaddy officiating.
