Beverly Marie Johnson Royer, 83, of Lake Charles passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in her residence.

Mrs. Royer was born on October 7, 1936 in Eunice, LA and moved to Lake Charles in 1947. 

She began her career as a bookkeeper and a secretary special events coordinator for the City of Lake Charles for more than 18 years.  Mrs. Royer was also a secretary to the Mayor’s Armed Forces Committee and worked for Ed’s Radio and TV for 19 years.  She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are a grandson, Curtis Mallet and wife Samantha and their children, Kruize, Kaegan, Khollin, and Kennedy; grandson, Jacob Mallet; granddaughter, Laci Ewing and her children, Samantha and Isabella Ardillo; granddaughter, Amanda Riggs and husband, Jacob and their children, Hannah and Hayden; a very special daughter in law, Kathy Mallet; a brother, Lloyd Johnson (Jo); four sisters, Della Comeaux, Ann Bergeron, Ellie Paxton, and Jean Verret & husband Larry; a special niece that was like a daughter, Tina Johnson, who loved her like a mother; and numerous more nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leona and Tonis Johnson; a son, Kenneth Joseph Mallet; and a sister, Elder Babineaux & husband Burt.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Christ the King Catholic Church.  The Very Reverend Rojo Koonathan will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:30 AM until leaving to go to the church at 9:30 AM.

In compliance with current COVID-19 order, we, along with the church respectfully request that gatherings be limited and all attendees wear face masks.
