Bill L. Kerry, 76, of Lake Charles passed away on Wednesday May 23, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends at a local hospital.
Bill was born in Clouierville, Louisiana and a longtime resident of the Lake Charles Area. He retired as a heavy equipment operator, having worked for the Local 406 for 34 years, and was with Nichols Construction for 13 of those years. He was known to be a family man, and one of his greatest joys were encouraging and helping others. He was an avid horseman and was the past president of the horseman rider’s club and instrumental in the encouragement of youth involvement with horses and the rodeo arena. He was proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Cheramie and father, Oliver Kerry; brother Merrick “Buddy” Kerry; sister, Frannie Humble; and grandson, Matthew Hank. He leaves to honor and cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 44 years, Betty Lanclos Kerry, Lake Charles; children, Billy Kerry, Jr. (Amy); Tina Hudson (Lennie Stephens); Charles Kerry (Cindy); Donna Rollins (Raymond); Anthony Liprie (Donna Nunez) and Belinda Lavergne (Rod); a special grandson he raised as his own, Michael Monk (Erin); brother, James McGurk; sister, Charlotte Kerry Blackman (Glenn); sister-in-law, Alice Kerry; and brother-in-law, Eldridge Humble; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday May 25 with a Cursillo Rosary to be recited at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday May 26 at Johnson Funeral Home with Military Honors being presented at 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial to be observed at 11:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will serve as Celebrant. A private burial will be held at Consolata Cemetery at a later date.
