Mrs. Billie Kathryn Blankenship Brame, 87, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully in the early morning hours, Friday, November 28, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Brame was born in DeRidder, LA and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a 1944 Graduate of Lake Charles High School and a proud member of the Kilties. Mrs. Brame was a longtime member of Boulevard Baptist Church and had recently attended Trinity Baptist Church. For over fifty years she taught Sunday School for the six year old class and later adults.She was an active participant in the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Brame worked as a secretary for the Calcasieu Parish School Board Transportation Department and was secretary for Mr. Ralph Hudson at Oak Park Junior High School. Later in life Mrs. Brame worked in the family business, Brame True Value Hardware. Survivors include her daughter, Kristina Brame Raetzsch and husband Hugh; two sons, Clay Brame and Guy Brame and wife Paula; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, Ralph Clarence Brame; her parents, Willie and Rosella (Miers) Blankenship; sister, Bobbie Borrell and husband Gene and brother, Rayburn Blankenship and wife Thelma. Her funeral service will be Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve James will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be, Monday, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
