Billie Brooks Chancey passed away to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. She was born July 6, 1960 in DeQuincy, Louisiana. She was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Church in DeQuincy. She was in the Legion of Mary and a member of the Cursillo Movement. She was preceded in death by her father Arthur Wallace Chancey, and sister Susie Chancey-O'Quinn. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy from 7:00PM to 9:00PM Friday, Dec. 3. A Rosary will be said at Our Lady of LaSalette Church at 1:00PM Saturday Dec. 4, in DeQuincy. A funeral Mass will be held at 2:00PM Saturday at Our Lady of LaSalette Church conducted by Father Ed Brunet. She is survived by her mother, Louise Chancey Reynolds, sisters Molly Chancey Kaplan of Portland, Maine, and Rebecca Chancey Freeman of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and brother Wyatt Chancey of Sulphur, Louisiana, and nieces Jamey O'Quinn Santos, Lindsay Kaplan Irvine, Eva Kaplan, and nephews Matt Kaplan, Asher Chancey, Eric Freeman, Jr., and Andrew Freeman. Everyone who knew her loved her for her appreciation of art, music, and laughter. She and her mother Louise were special friends and always did everything together. Billie had a cat Errol who was her child, and painted a picture of him when he disappeared without a trace years ago. She would not replace Errol until just recently, and had finally adopted Francis, who healed the hole in her heart that Errol left. Billie was a light of joy for all who knew her, and she will be missed a lot.
