Billy Ernest Sonny Tarver

Billy Ernest Sonny Tarver, 76, of Hayes, LA died at 11:18 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Tarver was born February 9, 1937 in Lake Charles, LA, where he lived until moving to Hayes thirteen years ago. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years. He worked for Lockheed Martin, Cities Service for ten years, and then retired from PPG in 1999 after many years of service. Mr. Tarver was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on and rebuilding cars.

Mr. Tarver is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Elda Soileau Tarver of Hayes; daughters, Gale Ann Laurents and husband Scotty of Hayes, LA and Kathy Ann Tarver of Nashville, TN; brother, Joseph P. Bub Tarver of Lake Charles; and sister, Bettie Mask of Lake Charles; and grandchildren Casey and Aaron Laurents of Hayes, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Edward and Addie Marie Dupont Tarver.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Father Emanuel Tanu will officiate. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM.

Pallbearers for the service will be Scotty Laurents, Casey Laurents, Aaron Laurents, James Tarver, Joey Tarver, and Jay Tarver.
