Billy Hoffpauir

Billy Joe Hoffpauir, 79, of Sulphur passed away on August 7, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones. Billy was born April 4, 1936 to Newton and Mary Lou Hoffpauir. He graduated from McNeese University with his B.S. degree in 1959 and with his M.S. degree in 1965. He taught for 25 years and was three times chosen by students as Teacher of the Year. Billy was an active member of Henning Memorial United Methodist Church having served on various committees. Billy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Gary Hoffpauir; brother in law, Gordon Farnum and wife, Carolyn; sister in law, Billie Merle Hoffpauir; sisters in law and husbands, Ella Ruth Gary Vincent and husband, Hubert, Max Ann Gary Morgan and husband, Donald, Beverly Gary Angehrn and husband, Jorg, Dannie Gary Broussard and husband, Tom; aunt, Ethel Simmons; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Jim and Nancy Granich. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings, 1 niece, 2 great nieces and 4 nephews. Services for Billy will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 11AM at Henning Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ellen Alston, Reverend Rachel McConnell-Switzer and Reverend Tracy McKenzie officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at the church. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 5-9 pm at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home and also Tuesday morning at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Henning Memorial United Methodist Church 404 S. Billy's wish was that this be a time of celebration for a life well lived and a time of thanksgiving that he is whole again and at peace in the arms of the Lord.
