Billy Ray Farris, 84, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 8:04 AM on Thursday, December 3, 2020 in his residence.

Mr. Farris was born August 22, 1936 in Texas and raised in the Lufkin, TX area.  He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, where he had martial arts training and boxed in both the military and while in high school.  Mr. Farris worked for Borden’s for fifty-three years, retiring as a supervisor.  During his younger years, he enjoyed raising horses and obtained his pilot’s license.  He also enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing, and was always there to give a helping hand.  He was a believer in Jesus Christ and will be missed dearly by all who loved him.

Mr. Farris is survived by his sons, Brian Farris and wife Lucy of South Carolina, Carl Farris and wife Belinda of Florissant, MO, and Billy Nab Farris of Lake Charles; sisters, Betty Crain and husband Alvis, Doris Hardin, and Nancy Nickels; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Blizzard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Catherine Farris; parents, Nab and Viola Farris; brothers, Roy Farris, Carrol Eugene Farris, Douglas Chapel Farris, Floyd Dean Farris, Alfred Wilson Farris; sisters, Janie McGee and Barbara Sue Jones; and his grandson, Carl Farris, Jr.

His memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Lake City Baptist Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  A private inurnment will be at Prien Memorial Park.  A gathering of family members and friends will be on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church and continue on Monday from 12:00 PM until the start of the service.
