Billy Wayne Bailey

November 23, 1934 — September 26, 2016

Billy Wayne Bailey, 81, of Lake Charles, LA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 26, 2016.

 

He was born on the 23rd of November, 1934 in Glenmora, Louisiana to Shrilda and Curtis Bailey.  He graduated in 1952 from Glenmora High School as Salutatorian.  He joined the United States Marine Corp on July 6, 1953.  While in the service, he earned a National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  He married Olivia Idell LeBoeuf on June 5, 1959 and had three children, Johnny Wayne, Sharon Reneé, and Charlotte Kaye.

 

Billy worked for the United States Postal Service from thirty-six years until the death of his wife.  He was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church on Common Street.  There he served in many capacities and as deacon under Pastor Francis LaRocque.  Billy’s achievements in life were numerous, but he will be remembered as a man of God who loved and is loved.

 

Billy was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife, Olivia I. LeBoeuf; his parents, Curtis and Shrilda Bailey; two sisters, Betty Clark and Doris Doyle; and one grandson, Alexander Harrison Mott.

 

He is survived by his three children, Johnny Wayne Bailey of Moss Bluff, Sharon Reneé Bailey-Mott (Kenneth) of Lake Charles, and Charlotte Kaye Bailey Stanley of Sulphur; one brother, Norris Bailey (Teresa) of Winnfield, LA; and four grandchildren, William Allen Joyner, II, Kaye Bailey Joyner, Olivia Korrina Mott and Benjamin Daniel Mott.

 

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Francis LaRocque will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
