Billye Jewell Scheufens, 74, of Westlake, died Tuesday September 17, 2013 at a local hospital with her loving family at her side following an extended illness. Billye was born in DeRidder, LA to Dr. William and Dr. Jewell Dickens Lyle. She was a graduate of DeRidder High School and McNeese State University. She held a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Master's in Special Education and was a Music and Special Education teacher in the Calcasieu Parish School System for over 30 years. She was also a choir director and an organist for St. John Bosco, Our Lady of Prompt Succor, and St. Henry Catholic Churches. She also taught piano from her home for over 20 years and was of the Catholic Faith and Member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Charles Vincent Scheufens. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her children, William Scheufens and his wife Sarita of Lake Charles and Gregory Scheufens and his fiancé Cynthia Babineaux of Carlyss; one daughter Trecia Quebodeaux and her husband Kevin of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Sydney Hargroder and her husband Michael, Shelby Scheufens and wife Veronica, Daniel Clark, Zachary Scheufens, Matthew Scheufens, Brennan Babineaux, Cohen Babineaux, Mya Alyse Scheufens, Michael Welch, Katelyn Reeves, SPC Ethan Quebodeaux, Lance Quebodeaux, and Kimberly Quebodeaux and three great grandchildren Anna Claire Reeves and Bryleigh Welch and Marileigh Hargroder; stepmother, Theresa Bellard Lyle; four step brothers, Jimmy Bellard and Terry Bellard, both of Lake Charles, Lloyd Bellard, GA, and Kenny Bellard, Moss Bluff and one step sister, Lori Gantt, Lake Charles, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday September 19, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be observed at 10:00 AM Friday September 20, 2013 at the church Father Alan Trouille as Celebrant. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery.
