Birgus Soileau

Birgus Soileau Sr. 90 of Lake Charles passed away at 8:15 AM, Thursday, March 7, 2013 in his residence.

Mr. Soileau was a native of Soileau, LA and has lived in Lake Charles for over seventy years. He was a very active member of St. Henry Catholic Church and of the Charismatic Movement. Mr. Soileau retired from Olin Chemical Refinery after over thirty years of service and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #407.He was an avid McNeese Sports Fan and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by two sons; Birgus Ralline (Paul) Soileau, and wife Mable, and Phillip J. Soileau and wife Derenda; grandchildren, Dennis Soileau and wife Kerrye, Karen Lavergne and husband Nelson, Mark Soileau, Theresa Kilburn, Christina Mouton and husband Michael, and Phillip J. Soileau, Jr. and wife Paula; nine great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Rose Manuel and Mildred Soileau; one brother-in-law, Earl Fontenot. He is preceded in death by his wife of over sixty years, Laurice Soileau; grandson, Paul Brent Soileau; three brothers and a sister.

His Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St. Henry Catholic Church. Monsignor Daniel Torres and Reverend Brian Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM followed by a prayer service and continue Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
