Blake Joy Bodin

Blake Joy Bodin, age 31, passed away peacefully January 13th, 2021. She was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Randall Bodin and Glenda Lofton.

Blake was a gentle, beautiful soul who loved her family, especially her daughter Vivian, whose warm smile echoes her mother’s heart. As Blake’s health issues mounted over the past couple years, Vivian was her polestar- her true north, and though the weight of her world grew, she kept her heart tethered to the love and joy she saw in her daughter’s smile. And, it was from this love and joy (an aptly fitting middle name), that Blake was always her strongest, truest self.

Her empathetic loving nature brought her on a path of helping children with special needs, always making herself available for the children even on her personal time. She was incapable of turning off such a big heart. She knew the sometimes-difficult nature of the world, and she sought to remedy it for others. The health struggles Blake dealt with was the fragile thread in the tapestry of her life. In ways it gave her a deeper understanding of the struggles others dealt with and how to overcome adversity, while also being the anchor which slowed her progression to an untimely halt from this life.
It’s hard to understand why some of us carry a heavier load than others in our time on this earth. We feel fortunate for people like Blake, who have the grace and strength to shoulder the weight of others while carrying so much themselves- It humbles the heart, and shines light for all of us through this tough time.

Blake is survived by her daughter, Vivian; her sisters, (and fellow members of the get along gang) Lindsay Bodin and Mandy Bodin; Mandy’s son, Colin and daughter, Mia; father, Randall Bodin; mother, Glenda Lofton and stepfather James Lofton; and her grandmother, Miriam Bodin.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Alfred Corbello and Vivian Corbello and paternal grandfather, Isaac Bodin.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
