Blanche Beatrice Potter Gibbs passed away peacefully Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the age of 94. She was born September 7, 1920 in Thornwell, Louisiana. Blanche Gibbs was a graduate of Lake Arthur High School in Lake Arthur, LA. She also attended Southwestern Louisiana University in Lafayette, LA. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of University Methodist Church and the "Joy" circle. She was an Eastern Star member, a former member of Bon Ton Club, and the Lady of Sahara Club at the Shrine Temple. She was a devoted member of a local sewing circle which she enjoyed immensely. Blanche was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to fellowship with her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious divinity and fudge! Our family wishes to thank Betty Nunez for the love and care she gave to Blanche the last years of her life and she loved her dearly. Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Gibbs Arbaugh and her husband Richard of Houston, TX. Son in law Gary Chamblee of The Woodlands, TX; five grandchildren, Brooke Gilcrease and husband Brad of Cypress, TX, Mark Chamblee and wife Tracy of The Woodlands, TX, David Arbaugh of San Diego, CA, Brett Arbaugh and wife Kristie of Pearland, TX, John Arbaugh and wife Beth of Magnolia, TX; eight great-grandchildren and sister in law, Marjorie (Sweetie) Jackson of Lake Charles, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher C. Potter and Ethel Lewis Potter; her beloved husband of 73 years, Floyd R. Gibbs, and her daughter, Linda Gibbs Chamblee of Seabrook, Texas. Also three brothers and a sister, Cecil Potter, C. Burt Potter, Ralph Potter, and Dorothy Potter. Pallbearers include, Mark Chamblee, Cameron Chamblee, Ryan Gilcrease, David Arbough, Brett Arbough, and John Arbough. Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday April 30, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM until time of service Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Charlie Langford will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hayes Cemetery, in Hayes, LA.
